Tyce's Surgery

Last Thursday Tyce had his tonsils and adenoids removed due to problems with sleep apnea.  I was super nervous for the surgery, even though it's a "minor" and "routine" surgery I still worried about putting him under anesthetic and about the recovery.

Here he is on the drive to the hospital (it was super early so he was a little out of it)...

After we got all checked in they got him dressed and then we waited for an hour.  He was a happy angel...

When it came time to take him away (they don't let parents go back with their child anymore) he just smiled and waved.  All the other kids were bawling!

The doctor said the surgery went well, he was so brave!  Here he is when I first saw him..
We came home and he slept for about three hours then spent the rest of the day laying on the couch...
When he woke up from his nap he was in a lot of pain and really grumpy, then he saw the balloons that Grandma and Grandpa Morrill had sent for him he was SO excited!  He said "how did the balloons get here all the way from Utah without getting lost in the clouds?"  Hahaha...
We are going on day five of recovery and it has been ROUGH, to say the least.  Right after he takes his Motrin (the doctor won't give him anything stronger since he's under six) he's pretty happy.  In fact, he went to pre school the very next day!!  As soon as the meds wear off he is MISERABLE.  He isn't eating or drinking much and has lost three pounds already.  The problem is the past two days the Motrin isn't lasting as long so he has more hours of pain.  The past two nights have been miserable, he is up like every three hours bawling.  I left a message for the ENT today and am waiting to hear back.  Here are some sad pics of him..
He always has his hands over his mouth like this when his throat hurts.  Fine by me because it covers up his nasty dragon breath that comes with a tonsillectomy!

Hoping that his recovery speeds up, poor little angel.  It is so hard to see him in so much pain!  :(
